Okay so I have been running FreeNAS 9.2.1.5 for about two years. No real problems. However now it seems that my server will not boot. I have attached a picture of the error screen.

Any help is appreciated. Explain any steps to me like I am 5 years old though (it has been a long time since I have even messed with the server, so my knowledge is fuzzy). Thank you.

Installation via USB stick.
RAM is 4GB.
Intel i3 CPU (forget the exact name)

Hardware specs?

How is your OS installed? Is it on a usb stick? Your usb stick probably failed and needs to be replaced. Download FreeNAS 9.2.1.5 and install it to the usb. Then boot up your system with that usb stick. If you have a saved config upload that config if not then reconfigure your settings. All your data should be there and no need to setup any of that stuff.

Ah yeah, sorry. It is on a USB stick.
I am pretty sure I have a saved config somewhere. I will give it a go. Thank you.

Will update with results.

I still have the exact version on my main computer. Going to try that one and see what happens. Now just to find where I saved the config files at....hmmm.

Well I can boot into FreeNAS now. How exactly is the best way to reconfigure everything?

I have a seven drive Z3 array. Do I just completely reconfigure everything?
I could have sworn I backed up my config initially. Crazy how I can't find it now though. Doh!

You can try to recover your config file from the bad usb stick. If you can get it mounted you can find the file under /data/ and it's called freenas.db i think. To get your pool imported all you have to do is go to the storage section of the GUI and import pools. This should give you the option to import your pool by selecting the name. Make sure you don't create a new pool or volume and if something looks scary it probably is and you shouldn't do it.

The only option I have is to "Import Volume". I do not see "import pool" in the GUI. I know the name of the volume.

Also, when I tried zpool import from the command prompt it caused the server to reboot. Not sure if that means anything. When doing zpool status it shows "no pools available".

dont' use the cli, you will break everything. pool and volume mean the same thing the freenas GUI so import volume is what you want. And if it rebooted when you tried zpool import on the cli you probably have pool corruption. :| I see you updated your first post with your hardware specs and that you don't have the minimum ram required to use freenas with zfs. This is mostly likely the reason your system rebooted when you tried to import your pool. You can try putting in more memory so you meet the minimum specs and hope you can import your pool. If not then your pool is corrupt from you not building a system with enough memory.

Welp, pool is corrupted as you said. Ah well. I am pretty diligent in my backups, so no data loss. Lesson learned on the RAM. For some reason I thought I did have 8GB in there, but when I reviewed the specs it was only 4GB.
Now that I have enough RAM I will get this thing back up and running. Will have to get a better UPS also as the one I am using seems to be not sufficient.

You can try importing in read only mode by using a -F flag in the import command. This is usually a last ditch effort so you can copy your data of.

You should use memtest to make sure your memory is not bad.
