Hi Everyone,

I recently took the plunge and installed FreeNAS on my file server. When connecting to the server from my Windows-based computers, everything appears to work great. However, my Mac is unable to connect to the server.

I've attached some screenshots to this post.

Basically, When I open up the "Connect to Server" dialog, I enter the following: cifs://192.168.1.11/Video

After approximately 30 seconds to a minute, a login box appears. I enter the username and password of my FreeNAS account, and press "connect."

I've attempted to use different variations of the server name, including a different IP or the hostname of the server. I also tried putting the full FreeNAS path including mountpoint, but nothing works.

Hopefully one of you amazing people can help me out.

What version of OS X are you running?

Try setting minimum & maximum SMB to v2. As far as I know, the latest OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 can only handle SMBv2. The latest OS X version fixes some SMBv2 compatibility issues. Prior to this version, I was experiencing random disconnects.

I'm running Mavericks. I attempted to change the Min and Max to SMB2, and now I don't even get a login box, it just gives me a message that it can't find the server. It's very odd.

I'm ashamed to admit, but I gave up for now. Went back to Server 2012 and my RAID card. I've saved the USB with FreeNAS on it to play around with when I have more time.
