Hi All. Ran into a weird issue that I am hoping you all can help me with.

Running FN 8.3 p2 and Windows 7. I have been running ISCSI for a while with no issues. Today, i rebooted my Win7 box and my ISCSI connection is asking me to reformat my mapped drive. Clearly I am concerned as a re format will wipe my 300GB ZFS dataset.

I tested it on my other Win7 boxes and same issue. The drive is appearing as an unformatted drive to Windows. Anyone know a workaround or what has happened? Thanks in advance!

What type of extent is it? zvol, I presume?

In that case, reformatting it will only wipe the zvol, not the whole dataset it's in. It will lose any filesystem and data formerly on that extent, but will not effect the rest of the ZFS pool.

Figured as much. Any clue how this happens? Concerned about data loss in the future.

Could be anything from a bad connection between the initiator and the target to an obscure bug. Make sure to only perform orderly shutdowns and do regular ZFS scrubs.
