I have two pools sharing with smb guest access. On FreeNAS 11.3-U5 both windows 7 and windows 10 can see my shares.
I updated to TrueNAS 12 and now windows 7 cannot see my shares - windows 10 works great.

I have tried both TrueNAS 12 and 12-U1.

I have gone back to FreeNAS 11.3-U5 and windows 7 and 10 both work again.

so is windows 7 not supported with TrueNAS? And will i have to stay on Freenas?

It should work. All non-EOL versions are supported. Perhaps you need to turn on the NetBIOS name server? Network->General Configuration-> NetBIOS-NS.

Thank you for you reply.
Is this option only on TrueNAS 12?
I had a look in my FreeNAS so i could familiar myself with it and i can't find it.

I went to Network->Global Configuration-> NetBIOS-NS and enabled it and now Windows 7 and 10 both work.
I am running TrueNAS-12.0-U1 now.
Thank you very much !
