Hello guys and gals!

I am tempted to build myself a NAS soon for media streaming to an HTPC I intend to build as well. I have a question about FreeNAS in regards to remotely controlling torrents (I know FreeNAS utilizes Transmission).

My friend has Windows 7 on his NAS and has it configured to where if he needs to he can just whip out his phone and through the Utorrent app initiate the download of a torrent on his NAS from his phone.

My question is if FreeNAS offers a way to do this, if so could somebody point me in the right direction on how to accomplish this?

Only if Transmission has such a feature. We simply provide the plugin, we don't generally support the features otherwise.

You can run applicable add-ons for your browsers in-order to have this functionality.. You just browse around clicking on the torrents you want.. They will auto-load into your transmission jail.. Not sure about phone applications..

http://www.transdroid.org/ is what i use.

if you want to access off your LAN then you will need to do port fording on your modem / router - works great with transmission
