Hello All,

I am planning building new storage that will be used mostly for MS SQL iscsi based
The storage will be based on Intel SR2600URB with 48GB memory ecc
dual 10g Intel e10g42bfsr type ,LSI MegaRAID 9261-8i controller
I plan to use 6x Seagate STBD6000100 as the storage disks + 2x Sandisk extreme pro 480GB for zil and l2arc
Now my question is STBD6000100 is good choice? since i need lots of space , i didn't found any test made to
individual disk like crystaldiskmark or what ever , did anyone did such equivalent test.
what should i expect overall performance with such system?
Thanks

Not real good. For 480GB L2ARC, you'd be much better off with 96GB of RAM (5:1 ratio), and there are better options for SLOG - a 480GB device for SLOG would be mostly wasted anyways.

But the worst part is the storage: to get IOPS, you need more (possibly smaller) drives, not fewer. 18 2TB or 36 1TB drives set up as 9 sets of mirrored 2TB vdevs, or 18 sets of mirrored 1TB vdevs, would give you a high performance ZFS pool from an IOPS point of view.

Also make sure that you're maintaining lots of free space on the pool to reduce fragmentation effects.
