Hello!

At the moment I am using a old Slimline HP system as a NAS.
I build 2 1tb wd red drives in it and put them in a raid 1 ZFS configuration.

right now at this moment this motherboard doesnt support any more drives neither does it support a good full 24 ATX power supply in order to fix this i will have to change out the PSU and Mainboard

now my question can i simply change out the mainboard without losing the raid 1 array or will i have to backup every thing again....

Freenas = software raid right?

also i am using a Bootable USB stick as OS so i am guessing the important data should be on that...

i just need a clarification!

Yes, you can safely change the motherboard.

RAIDz? is software RAID. I'm not sure what you mean by "data important data", but if you mean the configuration information, then yes, it's on your flash drive with the OS.

I had some hardware problems over a year ago and ended up moving my mirrored pair of disks to a completely new server, without a hitch.
