Disregard the sounds of drilling and hammering at your door. You're not being permanently sealed in or anything nefarious like that.

And it was good that you posted your serial numbers, many folks will delete them and in this particular case, I think it was helpful to post them.
I figure, if I'm asking for help, don't hold back the information. 'Data!data!data! One can't make bricks without clay.'
you can run 'camcontrol hpa da3' from the CLI and check the 'Enabled' column and sector count values reported. If it's enabled and they don't match, then it's likely someone (or some utility) set the HPA (Host Protected Area) to the smaller value for some reason.
I may have done something wrong, this is all I got and I don't know what it means.
[root@freenas] ~# camcontrol hpa da3
pass3: <WDC WD30EFRX-68EUZN0 82.00A82> ATA-9 SATA 3.x device
pass3: 600.000MB/s transfers, Command Queueing Enabled

Ha! Yeah, I'm used to it. When that happens, I call it Saturday.

There should have been a blank line after those two, followed by three more lines of info. Not sure what's up if those two lines were all it returned... :-/

My system shows the following with the same command:
Code:
Welcome to FreeNAS
[root@indra] ~# camcontrol hpa da3
pass3: <WDC WD20EARX-00PASB0 51.0AB51> ATA-8 SATA 3.x device
pass3: 600.000MB/s transfers, Command Queueing Enabled

Feature Support Enabled Value
Host Protected Area (HPA) yes no 3907029168/3907029168
HPA - Security no

Just out of curiosity, what kind of controller is that drive connected to? I'm running an M1015 in IT mode through an Intel expander, but the capabilities of your controller (and the drive/drive's firmware feature-set) may be why the same command on your hardware returns what it does.

Ah. I use the LSI 2308 SAS/SATA onboard the Supermicro X10SL7-F.
