Hi, TrueNAS Gurus !
On this thread https://www.truenas.com/community/threads/cant-install-freenas-on-dell-poweredge-2950.16999/ described how to modify Dell PE 9250:
- install IBM M1015;
- reflash motherboard to new BIOS to avoid fan alert + make fan alert;
Really appreciate this work! ;)
I need to make the same with my Dell PE 9250 (ver III).
So could You be so please to give me a suggestions:
1.
Is this possible to connect 8 of 3Tb (3Gb/s) SAS HGST drives to IBM M1015 and having STABLE SOLID AS ROCK WORK 24/7/365 ?
2.
Would be IBM M1015 a “bottleneck” for whole data stream from all of 8 x 3Tb (3Gb/s) drives?
Which better (faster?) controller for HBA/IT mode You suggest ? (I understand that in this case I need NIC with more bandwidth, and may be more CPU/bus power, but let this for later...)
3.
What happened if later I would like to upgrade all 8 drives to 8-16Tb (6Gb/s) SAS drives, IBM M1015 still keep working well?
Thank You all for detailed suggestions!
