Hi all,

We're currently attempting to reinstall TrueNAS Core (specifically 13.0-U6.1) on our server; unfortunately though, we're running into the same Dual Console: Serial Primary, Video Secondary stuck issue that a few other people seem to have run into. Most of those posts seem to be with people using consumer hardware; however, that's decidedly not the case for us.
  • We're using a Dell PowerEdge R720xd, which is decidedly enterprise-level gear. We're also on the newest BIOS (version 2.9.0, release on January 9th, 2020) and firmware (2.65.65.65, released March 16th, 2020).
  • We've previously installed TrueNAS 13.0-U3.1 successfully with EFI boot; in fact, we currently have working boot drives using EFI.
  • Our new installer still boots just fine using legacy boot, and doesn't hang.
Any idea what might be happening? We've attempted to create a /boot/loader.conf file, but the only mountable partition we saw was the EFI partition, and creating one there did nothing.

At the bootloader select 3 to go to the prompt, type 'set boot_serial=NO', type menu to go back, select 1 - worked for me.

Kinda weird that it did that. You can use Serial over LAN via IPMI (including via the iDRAC web GUI) to follow along, it has the added advantage of easy copy/paste. Good for troubleshooting, asking for help, etc.
