i imaged the FreeNAS-8.3.0-RELEASE-x64.img.xz as .img to a 8Gb usb drive in order to install it on a 20Gb IDE drive
After booting from the usb i see the console setup, but no option to install it to the harddisk

Hi sandoz,

To be blunt the only thing you are doing wrong is trying to install to a hard drive instead of running FreeNAS from a USB key as intended.

If you really want to install to a hard drive you can certainly burn the ISO to disk & install that way or image FreeNAS onto the hard drive the exact same way you got it onto the USB key.

or you could first boot your system using the flashdrive then use the command prompt to format and partitionning your HDD, then dd your system to your new HDD slice then reboot without your flashdrive.

Am I clear
