I was trying to install 11.2 onto my Windows 7 tower when I kept failing. After research, everything pointed to using 11.1-U6.3 so I did. FINALLY! I can do something! But, then it just stops. I've dug and dug but can't figure out why I keep getting stuck in this one spot! Any help would be amazing!

Sir,

Are you saying you are blowing away your windows machine and going to turn it into a FreeNAS?

That's the plan. It's never used. We all have laptops and whatnot that we use, and constantly sending files between them is getting old, so we dusted off the old tower, restored it to factory settings, and are trying to make it into a little home server.

Yeah, as Dru is wondering without saying so, there is an exceptionally high probability (like, 98%), that an "old Windows tower" will not be a wise choice for a FreeNAS system, and depending on what "old" means, you could have any number of immediate and deferred installation and performance issues. Could you tell us the motherboard, CPU, and amount of RAM? Is there a disk controller, or just onboard ports? etc.

Thanks.

It's an Acer Predator G3620 w/ Windows 7 Home Premium. Intel Core i7-3770, 12GB ram, 64-bit OS. DVD/CD and USB. I've been attempting to use a USB to install FreeNAS

From the top of my head: maybe do a burn in to see if the rig is still healthy?
