ive always wondered this, but in my months of testing FN, ive only done full reinstalls and db restores (not in-place upgrades)-

so when doing an in-place upgrade (ie an upgrade via the gui), do the contents of /root/ get wiped? (ie if i had a text file or a folder with some notes in /root/mystuff/ would that get wiped?)

thanks

I have seen some folks say that stuff does persist on the boot pool.

Personally I think it's a terrible idea to store things there and I don't think you'll get much support in terms of documentation that will say your stuff is safe there.

Just create yourself a dataset and put it on your data pool, that way it isn't touched at all by anything to do with system changes.
