Hello,

1. Can I grow the size of raidz by replacing hard disks one at a time without destroying the array ?

2. If I mix 3 hds of different sizes can I create a raidz for testing ? Is it going to work by using the smallest hd like raid5 ?

Thanks

Hi ela002,

1) yes, swapping the drive one-by-one is one of the 2 ways to increase the size of the pool. The other is to add more "vdevs".

2) you sure can, the only caveat is that the drives will appear th be the same sized as the smallest drive in the vdev (just like you said in the second half of the question).
