Importance of port number

My ASRock motherboard went out (again) and I'll be replacing it. My question is how critical is the SATA port number the drive was connected to? If I accidentally change the SATA connection port number when replugging the cables, is that fatal, or will FreeNAS determine the correct drives based on their serial number?

FreeNAS/ZFS uses gptid values to identify disks and partitions. Users don't have to care about port designations (which might change after reboots anyway). See also
