Hello ,

I have a request to assist migrating from Openmediavault to Freenas 9.10
The current system is installed with zfs on linux 0.6.5 and have one pool of 14.5TB
My question is what is the best practice once Freenas installed to import it to FreeNas 9.10?
Thanks

Your pool needs to have be made in a way that is comparable with freenas. You need gtpids and 2gb swap on each disk. There might be other stuff but I'm not sure. Is rebuilding your pool not an option

It's easy to move the data using ZFS snapshots and replication.
Moving the drives might be a bit challenging.

Which one are you trying to do?

Hi Depasseg,
I need to move the drives, reinstall the system and import existing pool

This isn't recommended with FreeNAS. BUT, assuming that OMV doesn't use flags that aren't supported on FreeNAS, you should be able to "just import the zpool".

That being said, I would NOT use this in an environment where your data is important, and certainly not long-term. Using a non-FreeNAS created zpool with FreeNAS can be fraught with peril. Proceed at your own risk.

Ok , i understand , think eventually move the data ,recreate the volume under Freenas and move it back
BTW very bad experience with OMV
Thanks
