Iam working in a office having 200 numbers of PC. I want to install freenas for filesharing to enable
the following features.\
1)Active Directory,
2) Domain controller
3) File sharing
4) Automatic backup

How can I implement these. Is it needed that I have to use 3 different machines separately to implement these functionalities without affecting the performance.
What is the method to get optimum performance.

Have you read the documentation like you were told in your other thread?

Yes. I know all these things can be managed by FreeNAS. My doubt is whether I should go for three different machines ie one for Active Directory and Domain controll
Then the second is File sharing.
If I use single machine for both will these affect the performance?

Don't you think that all depends on your hardware resources?

Ofcourse,
what I want to know is whether it will make serious performance issues?
or such setup(differenct server) will improve performance significantly.
I already said that around 200 machines have to connect these setup.

The number of clients connecting doesn't say anything about the workload being performed.

This all depends on lots of factors.

Workload of clients, types of shares, concurrent usage, specs of the hardware you intend to use, etc.

We intend to implement ZFS pool with mirrored storage pool.
Concurrent usage is around 50 nos.
Hardware- corei3 processor with 8 GB Ram

If you dont mind, can you say it in details?
http://doc.freenas.org/9.10/intro.html#hardware-recommendations

The best way to get the most out of a FreeNAS® system is to install as much RAM as possible. The recommended minimum is 8 GB of RAM. The more RAM, the better the performance, and theFreeNAS® Forums provide anecdotal evidence from users on how much performance is gained by adding more RAM.

Depending upon the use case, your system may require more RAM. Here are some general rules of thumb:

To use Active Directory with many users, add an additional 2 GB of RAM for winbind’s internal cache.

Right there in the documentation
