Hi All,

Newb here. First I would like to say that from what I have seen and able to figure out with FreeNAS, I like a lot. I have FreeNAS-11.3-U3.2 installed and was able to get it up and running. I have been able to get SMB working so that I can get to the storage from an UNC. I discovered the plugins, and have installed Nextcloud. I'm trying to get the 2 systems to work together so I can either use the UNC of the WEB to up/down load my files. From poking around, it looks like Nextcloud is not configured to use SMB. I have looked in the apps section, but was not able to find either of these items, "SMB / CIFS", "SMB / CIFS using OC login". I have looked in the forums and was not able to get a clear way to get this to work. Please remember that I'm a newb when you answer.

Have a look here (https://www.ixsystems.com/community/threads/installing-smbclient-for-nextcloud-15-jail.72817/) at the posts from jsherm101 if you really must do it the SMB way... here are a few steps and a couple of links to drill into for all that you need there.

I would suggest instead to use the Secure FTP (SSH) option instead, which should be easier and get to the exact same end result, but without the need to mess with the pkgs in the jail.

You can add a local directory as an external storage in Nextcloud, too. So just mount your data read-only into your plugin jail.
