Ideal number of disks for z3?

Hey folks, looking to redo my storage which consists of 3 separate vdevs of 7 disks each in a RAIDz3. I could not find an updated thread with an optimum number of disks for raidz3, but I did find this post from 2014 and I am leaning towards 2 separate 11 disk RAIDz3's , I say separate as I have to buy them at separate times due to budget constraints.

Is 11 disks in RAIDz3 an optimal number these days? Primary use is file storage over 10Gb, not looking to saturate the 10Gb, but mainly resiliency against disk failure.
