How to setup NAS network?

I like to ask about how to better implement 10 gbE into my new NAS (not built).

Should I use NIC to NIC connetion to save some money on expensive switch?
Will this reduce the ability for all the clients under this structure to access the NAS?
The 3 clients on the left side connects to router with CAT7 and they are vital why I want NAS.

Usage:
Backups/snapshots of my computers

Backup of my data from pictures to videos or books and research.

I would like to stream movies to my TV connected wireless as part of my 20 clients to Asus router n66 merlin.

Later i will add openvpn to allow cloud using owncloud for my other devices and research partners.
Some other equipements i am thinking of adding are pfsense firewall or proper switch.

Which solution did you end up using?

I ended up connect to my Asus Merlin. So Nas connects direct to router and then my workstation to router.

Another port on Nas I am not sure if i can do Nic to Nic to transfer higher between workstation to Nas

Still working on it.

The 10gbe switch is too much of $ strain.

Im look at pfsense that was recommended. Also following a thread to setup vpn for other computer from another locations to use NAS like drop box
