SOLVED How to Increase a Dataset's Quota

I set up a quota on a dataset that I use for MythTV recordings and it's full:

How can I increase the quota called media?

Yes, I FINALLY figured that out ...

For the benefit of anyone else who is trying to increase a dataset quota, here's the screenshot:

It took some thinking, but I decided to increase the "quota for this dataset and all children" rather than "quota for this dataset."

You are assuming no one else will read the manual. http://doc.freenas.org/9.3/freenas_storage.html#create-dataset

Also, "media" doesn't have any child datasets, so I'm not sure why you think that will make any difference.

Actually, I read this documentation before posting my question. I didn't see anything in this section about editing or changing a dataset. My mistake. Not blaming anyone else. Just saying that it is possible to read the documentation and not realize that the method of creating a dataset is the same as editing it.

Yes, you are correct, it has no children. I was referring to the prefilled values for this form.

In my example, the pre-filled value was "0" for the dataset quota and "1T" for the dataset+children quota. In this case, the quota for the dataset was unlimited, so changing it could not have any effect; I had to increase the quota for the dataset+children in order to give the dataset room to grow.

Again, thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I posted my comments just to help anyone else who, like me, couldn't figure out how to increase the quota.

Just so you know, you could change the quota of the dataset only and it would still work the same. Since the dataset doesn't have any children, the calculation is the same (dataset only vs dataset+children).

I wondered about what FreeNAS would do if I set a quota for the dataset greater than the quota for the dataset+children; in this case, it would be inconsistent and I didn't want to experiment with my live data to see how FreeNAS would resolve the inconsistency. That's what I meant when I said, "It took some thinking …."
