Hey

I had 11U2 installed and then I upgraded to 11U3. Now I would like to downgrade it to 11U2 again for a test. Is there a way to safely downgrade the FreeNAS without losing all the disk data/user settings etc?

In my boot section, I have
Default
Initial-Install
11.0 U3

If I set initial-Install as boot will that revert me back to U2 version with previous settings or will that just be a blank FreeNAS with no drivers/volumes/etc and u2 release?

Regards
Dariusz

If 11.0-U2 was the first one you installed, then it's likely the 'Default' option on the boot menu. You won't lose any data if you select the wrong one, just reboot into another boot environment.

Fantastic thank you! I assume that the settings will be preserved? network/hdd/etc/etc?

You'll have the settings you had at the time.

Is it possible to downgrade to 9.10.2 from 11.0?

You can't use 11.0 configs in older versions, but the pool will import fine on 9.10.2.

Thanks. So you need a config from the old system to downgrade back to 9.10.2?

In principle, you should be able to downgrade by simply changing your "train" to 9.10-STABLE, and doing the update.

I ended up just rolling back to the old boot image. It worked just fine.

I'll attempt an upgrade again when some of the 11 issues are fixed.

I'm in no hurry myself. Totally content with 9.10, no plans on upgrading for months.

Yeah I am fine with 9.10 as well, I just like to upgrade so I don't get too far behind. But if it's not ready it's not ready.
