How to config a static IP Adress / DNS-Server for a Jail

It seems as using FreeNAS within ESXi (as VM) does not work with DHCP.
(see: https://ixsystems.com/community/threads/network-problems.72436/page-2#post-544437).

If I disable DHCP I can a configure static address and default route, but no DNS Server!
This is probably my problem when trying to install the Syncthing Plugin, I get:
"[EFAULT] Exception: CallError:[EFAULT] pkg.cdn.trueos.org could not be reached via DNS, check your network occured, destroyed syncthing."

So, where can I configure the DNS Server for the Jail (11.2 U5)?

That's not correct. That's how my server is configured: ESXi 6.7 and FreeNAS VM. All my VMs are on DHCP.

Why not create a FreeBSD VM? If you want to use FreeNAS jails/plugins/bhyve capabilities, why running it as a VM?

I'm used to ESXi, so I don't want to change (I have many other VMs running).
In fact DHCP for the VM is not the problem - DHCP is working fine in all VMs.
The Problem is the Jail within a FreeNAS VM - the Jail (eg. Syncthing) does not get an IP address per DHCP!

Have you tried to install a Jail (Plugin) within youre virtual FreeNAS?

Frank

So still the question is:
How can I set the DNS server for the Jail manually?
Anyway, this should be possible! But I didn't find out so far.
