Hi all

I haven't been with FreeNAS for some time now and I saw iX people popping up on FreeBSD lists for their interest in the in-kernel iSCSI coming up with FreeBSD 10.0. But for now (FreeNAS 9.x) istgt is the thing FreeNAS uses for iSCSI. How is it doing, how does it compare to other in-kernel iSCSI implementation like to one in illumos or the appliance-ed NexentaStor OS?

Check it out and let us know. It appears that the kernel iSCSI is in 9.2.0-R but not yet used, so a manual configuration would allow a comparison of that too.

Hi jgreco

Interesting to hear that the in-kernel target seems already to be there, even though not yet activated. I knew FreeNAS tracked FreeBSD-current a bit more aggressively (I didn't expect it on the iSCSI target code) - I
came across this via the excellent Interview with jpaetzel on the BSDnow podcast.

The thing is that I don't have any reasonable hardware (some Atom stuff or VM) to really check things out, would be interesting to hear from people who were using Nexenta CE.
