Hello, I am running freenas 11.1U6 with plex in a jail.
I am running out of hard drive space on my freenas, so I bought a used old school 4hd nas put 4 2tb drives in it, it works it isn't fast but whatever. I can't afford to build another server, nor upgrade my hard drives. This old school nas box (Netgear ready nas) will share these different ways
CIFS NFS AFP HTTP/S I have cifs (samba i assume) running, nfs sounds like a linux share.

So, how would I edit my plex jail to map a network drive from this thing. 192.168.1.90 With the directory I want to share called TVShows
Or can I somehow do this in freenas in jail storage?
I have putty, semi linux noob, but I can copy and paste pretty good.
I just wanna be able to share this old crappy nas for older tv shows since I am out of hard drive space on the server.

You wouldn't. Why can't you put those drives into your FreeNAS box and add them to your pool?

Supermicro motherboard has 6 sata connections, i am using 6 4tb hd's
I have a old computer with a core i7 in it 6gb ram I could make a free nas box out of that (non ecc ram) but can i merge the hd space from 1 freenas to another somehow?

Or I guess, could I add a usb hard drive to the freenas server and store and pull data from that? I bought the crappy nas cause I wanted data protection (3/4 hd's for data, 1 redundent) I just can't afford to buy 6 8tb drives right now, I am out of space now. I prefer to use cpu/ecc ram setup on my freenas. if possible. as I have a xeon cpu with 32gb ddr3 ecc ram on my freenas sever currently.

If you have the space on your case to add the extra drives you could add a hba card and add them as another pool.

Oh, I wish you would of said that sooner about the IBM M1015 card, oh well.

Well guys I bought a Vantec 4 channel 6port Sata 6gb card (Marvell Chipset) I read marvell isn't that great, but of course its after I order it. was 65 bucks Canadian.

Anyhow, I added the 4 2tb drives to my Freenas, booted up Freenas, and I didn't think this would just work, but it did, freenas saw the card, had drivers and I see 4 hard drives in Freenas.

Super stoked, thanks for the suggestion guys, I was trying to hire friends I knew to log in and figure out how to share a network drive, and I wasn't thinking the bigger picture of just adding in a sata card.
