So i have a Dell R610 and an MD1200. I just bought the LSI 9207 card to connect the 2. Anyone have any problems setting up FreeNAS this way? I will have a second R610 running all my VM's so i hope to setup iSCSI between the 2 so i can store my VM's and access my shares.

It could be done, but the devil is in the details. The performance you will get will depend on exactly how it is configured. If you want to give more details about the exact nature of the hardware you have, we can make suggestions on changes that would make it work better. For example, the connectivity between the storage server and the VM host might need to be 10Gig and you might need some SSD caching.

You didn't say anything about that before. I don't think it is something you can use with FreeNAS. That is intended for a hardware based RAID array, which FreeNAS is not.

I think it would be a good thing if you give a better rundown on the hardware that you plan to use and how you plan to use it so we can try to guide you in the right direction.
