Hi,

I saw high activity with my disks in my FreeNAS server at midnight but, the network usage is normal. I have no RAID since all the disks are in JBOD and I do backups on external HDDs so its not possible of its a RAID sync or something like that.

It is normal to see such high disks activities at 12:00 AM?

Thanks,

Guillaume

Thanks for your help! :)

Have a great night!
You as well. :)

I also suggest checking your SMART test settings and set those up if you haven't already as those tests are not automatically set up.

Granted, SMART isn't perfect, but an ounce of prevention and all that. :)

Also, I just see a directory named jails was created on one of my volume, I didin't enable the jails and when I do rmdir /mnt/disk1/jails it saids the device is busy. Why this directory was created and why Im not able to delete it?

Well *THAT* is interesting. When you go in the GUI to the JAILS tab, does it ask you for initial configuration, or is there something already in the JAILS->CONFIGURATION portion?

When I go to the GUI and then JAILS, its empty, it saids there was no entry but, when I go to the configuration tab, its saids the jails root is at /mnt/disk1/jails I think its the reason of the jails folder at /mnt/disk1

The only thing I found currious is before I don't have any jails folder at /mnt/disk1 and now I have one. This is normal?

Did you install a plugin? Plugins use jails.

If you simply click on plugins in the GUI, it will automagically create a jails dataset.

You should just go to Storage / Volumes Tab and highlight (single left click) the jails dataset.
At the bottom of that window will appear five links. Left click the destroy dataset icon.
Your screen will turn red, and a window will pop up, asking if you are sure that you want to do this.
