I'm new to FreeNAS. I just bought a FreeNAS Mini and installed 4 HGST 4Tb drives. I also installed a Chelsio T420-BT 10Gbe card, which configured easily.
I'm not new to ZFS. I first used ZFS on an OpenSolaris 2008 file server, which ran for several years. After OpenSolaris was EOLed, I migrated the file server to Linux running MDADM RAID and LVM. Later I installed ZFS on Linux and migrated once more. This worked well for years until the system started freezing unpredictably. So , I'm migrating once again.
