Hi, New to FreeNAS and installed 9.x on an older i5 and it works great even added Plex. I am new to command lines but would like to try and find an Apache Web Service to add. Does anyone know of a plugin or an acceptable solution to add a WEB server for a novice? Thanks...

WEB server for a novice

You better do a LOT of research before you put anything web facing.

Getting a web server up and running is one thing, getting it configured for performance and hardened against attack is quite another.

ETA: Don't take my post as saying you shouldn't do this. Just make sure you do your research and understand what you are doing before you do it. There really is no "plug and play" to setting up a web server as there are so many variables involved.

I'm not sure there's anything suitable for a novice, and I'm sure there's currently no FreeNAS plugin. What you might work towards is something in a jail or something running in a VirtualBox VM. Either way, @Jailer is right, exposing anything to the internet is high risk if you're a novice.

I smell non-ECC RAM.
I smell non ECC RAM + a non ECC supported motherboard, and possibly a motherboard with Audio and such.

As far as adding a webserver to FreeNAS i think youre barking up the wrong tree.

I feel that non ECC is ok for a testing/learning platform as long as a user understands that its not suitable for production.

As far as a web server goes, use a VirtualBox Jail and run a Ubuntu Server 14.04 LAMP server. this way the WebServer is visualized and separated from your FreeNAS install.

I run 3 Servers inside Virtual Box. 1 for my FreePBX SIP phone System, 1 for my CentOS Active Directory Domain Controller and Mail Server and a third for my WebServer. Uses some RAM and CPU but works great.
