Hi I am brand new to FreeNAS, and basically know the absolute minimum. All went well until about 3 a week ago when something happened to one of my HDD's. Not sure how to check and I get the following error on then when I expand my Volumes -- MainDataStore 0 (error) - Error getting available space? Status = Unknown - All my SMB shares are missing and I have about 6TB of Data on those drives? Does this mean I have lost all my data?

I also getting Critical alert : The volume MainDataStore is UNKNOWN:

FreeNAS-11.2-BETA1 on da0 - My USB Stick SANDISK 8GB
ASROCK H110M MB
16GB RAM DDR3 1600
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-7100 CPU @ 3.90GHz
4 x 2TB HDD's (2x 2TB WD Green SATA 3Gb/s 64 MB Cache - ada0 & ada2 respectively, and 2x 2TB, SEAGATE Video 3.5-Inch 2 TB 5900 RPM 64 MB Cache, ada1 & ada3, respectively)

First things first, the only zpool showing is your boot device. Your Vdev of 4
drives is not listed, this is bad.
Do you know the configuration of your pool AND how are they connected.
You would be doing yourself a favor by giving more details. See Forum Rules
link at the top of the page and provide as much detail as possible.

Thank you for the reply, I have followed a tutorial and created The Volume MainDataStore, then I Created four datasets each under the MainDataStore, Then created SMB Shares for those. As far as raid goes I am at a loss? If i click on storage - View Disks I can see al four drives. 2x 2TB WD Green WD20EARS SATA 3Gb/s 64 MB Cache - ada0 & ada2 respectively, and 2x 2TB, SEAGATE Video 3.5-Inch 2 TB 5900 RPM 64 MB Cache, ada1 & ada3, respectively and da0 - My USB Stick SANDISK 8GB.

If i click on Volume Manager it show Available disks 1 - 2.0 TB (4 drives, show) - It also show all 4 drives under Import Disk in the selection dropdown.

Pleas provide the output of glabel list. This will tell us what partitions are on all of your visible disks.

I seems that ada0p2 is the missing drive? How do I know which drive that is?

Just a question if I load FreeNAS from scratch on a new USB, will my data then be destroyed? Or can I import the volume and datasets after re-install?

So you set up your four-disk pool as a stripe (similar to RAID 0), which means you have no redundancy at all--if (when) any single disk fails, you lose the pool and all the data on it. If you can't bring that disk back online, your data is gone.

How can I do a check disk or similar? The disk is listed in BIOS and is available? Can you please help me with what I need to do to achieve this?

Shut down your machine and check your power/data cables are not loose.
You still have not told us anything about your drives physical connections,
are they SATA, are they connected to the motherboard, etc.

Sorry about that, yes they are SATA Drives all connected directly to the motherboard. The BIOS reports all the drives and smart is enabled on all of them. On the POST screen the drives are all present and accounted for.

Replaced the SATA cables and all drives and data is visible. Thanks. i am moving my data to an alternative location and then will do a setup from scratch, and readup on redundancy for the FreeNAS and set it up correctly next time round.
