While this may not be TrueNAS specific, I need a hand figuring out the best option for a SAS HBA in a Dell m620 blade. They have a version of the H710 and H310 but when I flashed the H310 with one of the scripts out there, it flashed clean from what I could tell but on reboot the server promptly rejected the card as an unsupported device. Gotta love Dell BIOS... I'm guessing i'ts the PCI vendor ID being LSI and not Dell. The crappy part is that with the mini PCIe sockets I can't reflash on another server and therefore the card is now useless even though it's technically just fine.
Does anyone have experience with flashing these cards and keeping them recognized as Dell cards?
I plan to use this for a vSAN lab and a small TrueNAS blade with 2 512GB drives to help bootstrap things.
Also, yes, I have an M1000e fully populated with M620 blades and more RAM than I know what to do with. If you into that kind of hardware porn I can post a few pictures.
I hope to build out a vSAN stretched cluster and eventually a full VCF stack with vSAN, NSX-T, SDDC, and more to simulate my new work environment. :D
