I wouldn't count on a response for your request. People don't generally want to get that involved with other people's setups because you'll start leaning on them more and more. FTP is extremely simple to setup. If you can't get that to work then you either have a configuration problem, don't have even a remote clue what you are doing(hint: you shouldn't be using FreeNAS if this is the case) or have some kind of hardware failure.

Not to mention that if someone else helps setup your system then you will lose out on the experience of learning what you did wrong yourself and you are only making it more likely you will not be able to manage your server later.

Really, this is a problem that YOU need to solve. If you can't solve it, you should look at using a different OS. The reason why your previous thread was unanswered is because your post made it sound like you really have zero clue what you are doing and you want someone to lean on. You should break out the FreeNAS manual and read it. READ it, not skim through or read the sections you think will fix your problem.

I don't want to think about what other configuration issues you are having that you don't even know about yet and won't find out until you lose data or something. FreeBSD has an extremely steep learning curve. If you aren't willing to learn then you should bail on FreeNAS and go to Windows or something else that is easy for you.

That post only reinforces the fact that you may not have a clue at all. Either you have a VERY bizarre network configuration or you are completely out of touch with what you are doing. Wireless shouldn't work better than wired. The fact that you said that your setup is the opposite almost implies that you are claiming that wired/wireless is the issue when it is almost certainly not(note that I'm not saying that what you are seeing isn't that a wired desktop doesn't work but a wireless laptop does). You're just assigning blame for whatever you are seeing and you actually don't know what the problem is.

All that wired and wireless do is pass data. There's nothing special that would make wireless work and wired not. In fact, the opposite should be true since wifi sometimes has interference and disconnects and wired doesn't have that issue.

yea i know but i looked up many different solutions an none of those work. and i am guessing that my problem with the wired has some effect on the ftp, and this is my first time and nothing every goes smoothly the first time.

sounds to me like its a problem with your desktop. you should troubleshoot your network before blaming FreeNAS
