TrueNAS-12.0-RELEASE
on Dell R730xd, 128GB ram
12 x 12TB disks in rz2pool
Disks are unhappy to say the least. I will refer to the disks as orig 'shown' in TruNAS, but in reality the slot numbers are zero based, so yes, I pulled and replaced the correct disk (verified by yellow blinking light etc).
orig issue state:
da3p2 showing degraded
da10p2 showing offline
today state:
da3p2 showing degraded
/dev/gptid/9627a9da-33bc-11e9-a9dd-246e962d2180 showing REMOVED
(da3p10 and da3p11 look to me like what was da3p11 and da3p12 originally. sorry no screenshots)
Ordered / got my replacement drives (exact same make and model). Inserted new drive as the system fully supports hot swapping. No changes seen in UI, so I rebooted to see if it would 'see' the insertion. No change.
I have rebooted a few times just hoping for luck to kick in, no joy there. When I look at disks or the zpool, in neither place to I see any reference to the replacement drive serial number. I have not yet tried 'another' fresh drive, but I have that available as an option. The array is in a datacenter some miles from me, so I want to have a plan before making the drive down there again.
Any ideas on how I can get it to see the new drive and get it to replace? Since it doesn't see it anywhere I know to look, I cannot choose 'replace' in the zpool as there is no member disk to replace it with.
I'm fairly green with this particular operation set, although I have had multiple freenas/truenas devices builst and played with at different times. I just don't know enough about what is going on (or not) under the hood in order to move forward.
