I tried a TP-Link card and the throughput is around 50MB/s! I then tried the on-board NIC and it starts off around 100MB/s but drops down to around the 50 mark....

Will an Intel card resolve this? I know they are preferred but don't want to buy one if not going to make any difference!

EDIT:
Tried a few more times and get lower than 50 now, sometimes in the 30s

Well, you know the answer... Intel on the server AND the client = no problem. Other low/mid-range brands (Realtek, Broadcom, ...) = probably lower performance and maybe problems :)

Yep I think I do! LOL

I finally got my old Raid 5 drives into a RaidZ2 volume! Used Mini Tool Partition Wizard to reset all drives with zeros....

Very good idea, you won't regret it ;)

Not to fussed from my pc side as I will only be adding files from there! Mainly just want the freenas to be reliable for streaming media to other devices throughout the house....
