Hi Everyone,

Let me just say I am very new to TrueNas and probably made a mistake when installing TrueNas on my server.

For context this server was running ESXI, all I did was install TrueNas as an ISO on a Bootable USB stick and booted the server off of that stick. I followed all the prompts and I was also following this video.

As a side note: There is this error message in the dashboard of TrueNas -

This is also just another interesting thing I see on the dashboard under storage -

Here are my specs:

Dell R420
1 intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2407 0 @ 2.20GHz
8 SAS 300GB HHDs
24 GB Memory
Was Running ESXi 6.7 U3
Now Running TrueNas 13.0 U2

This is an incomplete manifest. The Dell R420 mainboard is not able to drive SAS drives. Were I to make an educated guess, my guess is that you have some crappy Dell RAID controller in there, which would explain why the SMART daemon isn't running. Please refer to

This doesn't provide any context. What are you saying? You didn't want to install TrueNAS? It overwrote ESXi? Etc.
