Group and users configuration for n00b (like me...)

I'm trying to build a NAS that:
- Some users can acces as a folder with windows on the local network, with one different identification for each user
- Some users can acces with ftp with different identifications and eventually different rights

Is it possibles? I would much appreciate any help;)
What groups and what users should I do?

Think a lot of us are looking to do the same, and currently you can't do it form the GUI afaik. What you need to look into are the "getfacl" and "setfacl" commands. There are lots of pages about those around the web. Haven't set mine up yet as I'm waiting for the last 2 hdd's, but they should do what you're looking for.
The "default" rights system only allows for one owner and group afaik.
