Go from Freenas 8.3(UFS) to Freenas 9.3(ZFS) without losing data?

I currently have Freenas 8.3 and want to go to 9.3. I have 4 drives of varying sizes all full with data in UFS format.

I've read through lots of posts and some of the Freenas documentation, but couldn't quite piece together the correct answer to my question: Can I convert my disks from UFS to ZFS without losing the data?

No. You need to backup your stuff and move it back onto the new ZFS pool.
