Geli decryption does not seem to work when importing

Hello. I wanted to import a pool using a geli.key. I use FreeNAS on a vm. Could you please tell me why it is failing? Thanks in advance.

What type of VM? Which version of FreeNAS?

Hello again, I wiped all data on my hard drive. Tested both kvm and vmware, got the same error. Then invoked commands in CLI it appeared that the key was wrong. I re-key'd once but never had to import until then. I learnt my lesson. Thanks a lot for trying to help me.
