For the last couple of days I have been getting cpu error messages. and today this one:
The cpu on my FreeNAS server is Xeon E3-1240v2 cpu for server, which I bought from an ebay seller about 3 years ago now.
Should I be worried:

Oh, not good then. I'd best start looking for another cpu for FreeNAS.

It could just be a bad contact.

Doesn't memtest just test memory, and would memory also be affected by the error message

memtest also tests the cache

I have just shutdown my FreeNAS machine, removed the cpu cooling fan, then the cpu.
I cleaned off all the existing thermal compound before re applying it on the cpu etc. I'll just wait to see if I get aqnother similar message tomorrow. If so , it'll be another cpu I reckon.

Ok daft question now, how do I get memtest86+ on my FreeNAS machine, and run it.

You follow the memtest86+ instructions to burn a usb thumb drive and boot off that

Just an update here:
Doing what I did yesterday in re seating the cpu and re pasting etc, seems to have cured the problem. I now don't get any more messages regarding the cpu icache error.
One of the post legs have broken off so I've had to order a new fan.
