General description:

I have two FreeNAS servers. Main and backup server. Both have the same files on disk. Of course, they have run different services.

Booting off the main FreeNAS server takes much more times than the backup server. The bottom line is that the main server is waiting for 70 sec. during booting and there on boot command: Trying to mount root from zfs:............ The backup server waits there only 7 sec.

Booth, the servers have the same last version FreeNAS i.e. 11.0-U1

My guess is that the problem is probably with mounting non-using mountable disks.

Question and asking for help:

What do I need to do for decreasing amount of the time for booting for the main server?

Thank you very much for the advice.

The issue is likely with your boot device. Maybe try replacing it?

Secondly, how often do you reboot for this to be an issue? I think mine takes about 20-30 seconds at that point, but once it's running, it's up until the next update.

I´ve tried to replace my boot USB device twice. But still, I have the issue with the boot device, as you mentioned. Other problem I have with updating of FreeNAS system through GUI which concerning of boot device again. But this kind of issue I am able to solve. Based on your advice I think that is a good time to replace my boot device again. This action can solve both issues of my boot device. THX

Secondly, I use FreeNAS in a different way as you, because I switch off/on it every day. For this reason, it´s booting time is a little bit more important to me like to you.
