Does FreeeNAS support DRBD? If not, When?

I see FreeNAS supports snapshot replication but this is not the same as realtime block data replication.

Does the TrueNAS version support DRBD (realtime block replication)?

Thanks

DRBD is a Linux thing. FreeNAS will probably never "support" it.

FreeBSD does have a block replication, HAST, but I don't know if there are any plans for FreeNAS to support this. The use cases are somewhat specialized.

Thanks for the reply.

Someone wrote an article/blog on HAST on FreeBSD https://www.ixsystems.com/blog/configuring-a-highly-available-service-on-freebsd-part-1-hast/
Wondering if this is still applicable/doable on FreeNAS 11.x? and also CARP?

Any comments?

"still" would be the wrong word, as this was never doable on FreeNAS as far as I can recall. As an end-user, you could obviously hack it in, but that messes with the idea behind an appliance.

HAST was developed but I never saw a huge amount of interest in it. It's one of those basic technologies that just isn't that sexy.

You can definitely build yourself a HAST+CARP pair of devices for high availability storage if you want out of FreeBSD, though.
