I am configuring FreeNas and everything is going smoothly for a production environment. I installed Freenas on a USB Drive / Server is a Dell 2950. My question is for ZFS Replication over the network; is this a updated data sync. For example if a user enters in data into a Exchange System ( DB is in FreeNAS ) and the FreeNAS Server fails does the secondary NAS System takes over immediately with the updated data. I know OpenFiler has DRBD but I have heard great things about ZFS that I really want to head in this direction.
In addition does it make sense to install Freenas on a USB Drive sync'd to a server that is running in production. I am just a little nervous of the USB Drive failing.
