FreeNAS 11.1u4 CATASTROPHIC software failure! - AVOID!

Well today morning its safe to say was a pure nightmare. As deadline is today and all files are on FreeNAS that have crashed.

So I updated to 11.1u4 from 11.0.u4. The last NAS was running fine for 5 months, but the new one just runs to ground. As far as I know it is this related > https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/fn11-swap_pager_getswapspace-failed.56122/page-2

If you have it, I advise you to go back to run away from that release. The 11.1u4 1st crash after which I restarted was able to boot fine - that was yesterday. But today it crashed again and during boot, I had a wall of python errors and no IP access. Thank god for IPMI or I would have been screwed...

Anyway, just a warning to whoever thinks of updating it.

There is a known SMB memory leak in U4 which came from upstream when used with a combination of vfs_objects. The Samba group have fixed it and the fix will be included in U5.

I'm not sure what vfs_objects are as I did not create them myself. But glad to know. Thanks! Do you know maybe when u5 is coming out?

I wouldn't hold my breath, U5 keeps getting pushed back, it should have been out at least 2 months ago :-/
