This may be a dumb question and from way out of left field buuut...
I thought maybe in-case you have any experience with the Dell PERC cards, I had a question pertaining to a project I'm doing for Hyper-V clustered setup with (possibly) FreeNAS for DAS.
It's a 200+ user server in need of some fast storage for Database. We bought 4 SSDs for the SQL database alone. 8Gb Qlogic 2562's are on their way.

I've tried the whole sketchy raid-0 volume per drive for each drive and I've read from @cyberjock hardware compatibility list that this is not a good idea.
I've looked up the PERC H710 only to find that it doesn't support Passthrough (which I understand to be JBOD).
I was wondering if the card (in the storage Target server) will pass the hard drives through to FreeNAS directly IF nothing is configured in RAID BIOS.
I had a friend of mine from VMware tell me that this is possible. Any experience with such a setup?
Let me know what you think. Again, he's saying to just blow away all RAID BIOS config and that the drives will show up in FreeNAS.

Some newer Dell cards seem to do passthrough just fine, but I have no concrete data. Besides, SAS3 is still way too experimental for most real uses.
Dell also complicates crossflashing, if needed.

So, basically, stick to simple LSI stuff.
