Can I ask, what motherboard and CPU you decided to go with instead?

X10SDV-4C-TLN4F
Less powerful SOC but more than enough for my application and Mini-ITX format for which I already have case, power supply, and other items.

Looks like a nice, if somewhat pricey, board.

Xeon-D in a nutshell.

Why replace Avoton's (rather high) price point if you can just jack up Avoton prices and release even more expensive Xeon-D parts?

Certainly open to other mb/cpu suggestions in Mini-ITX format. The only other potential contender(s) were the ASRock c2750d4i or its cousin C2550D4I but I may have missed something else.
