Feature Request: To be able to download binaries via https or signed builds

Hi all, I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I'm wondering if it would be possible to provide a way to download the binaries via https or maybe gnupg signatures for the builds? I've found sha256 sums but these don't guarantee that a trusted part has generated the images in the first place, nor against any man-in-the-middle attacks.

Various communities around the world are starting to look into which routers that download their software upgrades over un-encrypted channels, and a NAS is more important IMHO.

Thoughts/comments?
