hello,
I face this fatal trap since 8.0.2. Now with 8.0.3 is still happening:
P1000870.jpg

it is ramdom and not all times appears. Normally if the HDDs are sleeping and I shutdown the system.

But what appears all the time is the second line of the photo in diferent HDD:
(ada1:ata3:0:0:0): Spin-down disk failed

some times finish sutting down and other hangs.

My HW is:
motherboard Asus P4p800 with latest BIOS
4GB memory
2x promise sata300 TX4
4x seagate 1,5 TB (with latest fw)
4x seagate 2tb

OS at usb stick

does some one have the same problems?
thanks in advance

Please try disabling ataidle support in the GUI to see if it changes things. There's an updated image coming out soon with a newer version of ataidle that might fix this issue (there was a known issue with some chipsets).

Hello,
I will try it and I will come back with news.

Regarding what jwhitt is saying, I have the same issue.
I receive 4 mensages "ataidle: the device does not support advanced power management" but I have 8 HDD.
4 connected to one promise and the other 4 to the other promise card.

it is strange that I receive only 4 messages.

Hello,
I uncheked the ataidle support, save and restart.

I showed at init the message:
"ataidle: the device does not support advanced power management"

in 4 of the 8 hdd´s.

In the shutdown, the problem with the spin down appeared too.
I can not say any thing about crash because i need to try several times.

Hello,
I updated to 8.0.3 P1 and:
- still have the message at start up "ataidle: the device does not support advanced power management" with ataidle support dissabled at GUI.
- a crash appeared at shutdown, see image attached.

How can I help in order to obtain more information?
