Failing disk, RAID-1

Dear all,

Would really appreciate some help here. This is my configuration: I have a primary disk, and then a RAID-1 pool using three disks. One of the disks showed as failing, but am not sure which of the three discs physically is in question. What do I do here?

PS. I am mainly using the graphical user interface.

Would be gratefor for any advice.

What do I do here?

You should be able to see the serial numbers of the disks in question in Storage -> Volume -> View Disks in the FreeNAS GUI, at least the serial numbers of the disk which are in the ONLINE state (compare da1, da2, da3 parts of the disk Names).

Hello,

Thanks for the advice. I managed to narrow down the disk and took it out. For some reason, the serial number was not visible on the physical device (too small to see). So, I just rebooted the system about four times, each time disconnecting one disk (and this time labelling them too)

So, now I have it, I took out the disk, and checked on another system. Obviously, I have to initialise the disk - done it, formatted using a different filesystem.

How would I go about adding it back to the pool please?

The drive is failing... you can't just reinitialize it and add it back to the pool. You need to replace the drive.

It appears you have two degraded drives - one in your diskMirror pool, one in blackMaxtor500G.
