I've searched through the forums this morning, and the how-to guide on replacing failed drives, but I wanted to get confirmed help step-by-step.

Yesterday a drive in my NAS started making noise. It's definitely bad.

I've set up a 2 pools, one is in a mirrored raid (I had 4 drives, went with the best option that FreeNAS recommended, I believe it's similar to a raid 10. I also installed another drive separate from that array, and wrote a cron job to back up the contents of the raid array to that drive every hour.

My zpool status is below.

How would I go about safely replacing that drive that says UNAVAIL? Is there a way I can find the serial number of that drive as well? Thanks in advance for any help. I just want to make sure I do this right and not mess anything up.

Hi,

I am having the same problem. When I select the disk there is no "Off Line" button available, just a "Replace" button. Where as if I select another working disk I have 3 buttons "edit disk", "Off line" & "Replace".

Do I just click the replace button?
