I'm using FreeNAS 11.2-U7 running on dedicated hardware (Intel NUC / i5-5300U) with a single Kingston KC400 1TB drive. FreeNAS is installed on a separate 16GB USB 2.0 and the SSD is dedicated entirely to storage. I configured a brand new dataset with no compression, no snapshots, and no dedup.

I can copy 100GB (20 file) over SMB at ~116MB/sec and read back just as fast. However, when I try to delete that data, it calculates almost 2 hours to finish.

I've seen posts in here about SMB being slow (I'm using the defaults) but even if I go to the CLI and try to remove with rm -rf, it's still painfully slow so I don't think this is an SMB issue.

Not sure where to look, so any ideas are appreciated!
